AIpparel ("we," "us") lets you see yourself wearing real clothing using AI, save looks, track your sizes, watch prices, and shop. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Account information. Your email address and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider — we never see your plaintext password), plus an optional display name and username. We use your email to sign you in, secure your account, and send account emails such as password resets.
Photos you provide. The body photo you capture or choose for try-on and your avatar (it typically includes your face), and the AI-generated try-on images. These are stored in private, per-user cloud storage locked to your account, and cached on your device. To generate a try-on, your photo and the garment image are sent to OpenAI, our AI image-processing provider (see below), to create the image. The app asks for your permission before the first send — no photo is transmitted to OpenAI until you allow it.
Facial imagery. Your try-on uses a photo so the generated image looks like you. We use this only to render your try-on and avatar — we do not use it for facial recognition, identification, or to build a biometric profile, and we do not sell it. It is stored in your private account storage and sent to OpenAI solely to produce your result. Retention: your photos are kept in your private account storage until you replace them or delete your account — you can remove them at any time by retaking your avatar photo or deleting your account (Profile → Delete Account), which erases them from both the cloud and your device. OpenAI does not use your photos to train its models; under its API data policy it may retain API inputs briefly (up to approximately 30 days) for abuse monitoring, after which they are deleted. Where local law (e.g. Illinois BIPA) treats facial data as biometric information, your in-app consent and use of the App constitute your consent to this processing.
Wardrobe & profile data. Items you save, collections, brand sizes, measurements you enter, wishlist items, and look history. This is synced to your account so it's available across your devices, and cached on your device.
Fit & sizing data. The measurements and sizes you enter, and how garments fit across brands, are used to suggest your best size. If you opt in to a Fit Profile, this data is also contributed — de-identified — to a dataset that improves size recommendations across users (see below).
Usage analytics. The app keeps anonymous counts (e.g. app opens, try-ons started/completed, items saved); shop interactions record only a retailer's domain. This contains no name, email, or photo.
Purchase information. If you subscribe, the transaction is handled by Apple (via our subscription provider). We receive subscription status, not your payment details.
Your account data — profile, wardrobe, sizes, measurements, saved looks, and your avatar and try-on photos — is stored with our cloud infrastructure provider (Supabase, which hosts our database, authentication, and file storage) in access-controlled, per-user storage protected by row-level security, so only your signed-in account can reach your data. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections.
A core goal of AIpparel is recommending the right size across brands. If you choose to build a Fit Profile, we add the brand sizes you wear together with your body measurements to a dataset that helps predict sizing for people with similar measurements.
This dataset is de-identified by design: every entry is keyed to a random, app-assigned identifier derived so it cannot be reversed to your account — it contains no name, email, or photos. It powers community size recommendations and may inform aggregated, non-identifying sizing insights we share with brands. Contributing is opt-in (you enable your Fit Profile and consent); you can stop by deleting your account, which removes your entries.
To create a try-on, we share your photo and garment images with OpenAI, the third-party AI image-processing provider that generates the try-on image and returns it. The app asks for your permission before the first send, and you can decline (no photo is transmitted if you do). OpenAI processes these images solely to return your result: it does not use them to train its models, and under its API data policy it may retain them briefly (up to approximately 30 days) for abuse monitoring before deletion. Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy. We share only what's needed to perform the feature you requested, and we do not authorize AI providers to use your photos to train their own models where an opt-out is available to us.
We do not sell or share your personal information. We may create and share — including license — aggregated and de-identified datasets (for example, population fit-and-sizing insights, or demand signals such as which items people save or want price-drop alerts for, as counts and trends). Any such dataset contains no name, email, photo, contact detail, or other identifier that reasonably identifies you, and recipients are contractually prohibited from re-identifying you. Where applicable law gives you the right to opt out of certain sharing, contact privacy@aipparel.app.
Your account data is retained until you delete your account (or it may be removed after prolonged inactivity). We protect it with encryption in transit, access-controlled per-user storage, and hashed passwords. Photos sent for AI processing are transmitted over encrypted connections and processed only to return your result. We use reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
AIpparel is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
We may update this policy as the app evolves; we'll post the new effective date here and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
